Fars Province to host 35th Fajr Film Festival

An official with Iran Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry in Fars Province says the 35th Fajr Filmfest is to be held in the province alongside the main event in Tehran.

Mehdi Ranjbar said that Shiraz is to host 22 films of the event for 10 days, adding that the city hosts showings of two films each day on February 4-14, 2017.

He also mentioned that the screening schedule is not confirmed yet.

The Fars cultural official noted that according to a rule set by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, provinces can have the screening of Fajr movies in just one theater hall. But since there are many cinema fans in Fars province, there are possibilities to hold the event in another city of the province, too.

He said that the screening schedule for the event is similar to Tehran, adding, “We don’t screen any of the movies sooner or later than Tehran.”  

Fajr Film Festival is Iran's annual film festival, held every February.
